Alaskans are set to finalize their votes for a new governor on Tuesday. The decision comes as current Governor Mike Dunleavy reaches the end of his term limit.
The election features over a dozen candidates vying for the position. Prominent figures in recent polling include Tom Begich, a former state Senate Minority Leader, representing the Democrats, and Republican business owner Bernadette Wilson.
Among the other notable contenders is Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins, a Democrat with past experience as a state lawmaker, and Dave Bronson, a Republican who previously served as Anchorage’s mayor. All candidates, regardless of their political party, have a chance to proceed to the general election, with the top four vote-getters advancing.
Polling stations are set to close on Wednesday at 12 a.m. EDT, marking the end of the voting period. For continuous updates and live results, follow Decision Desk HQ.
