Pro Bowl offensive lineman Andrus Peat announced his retirement in a social media post on Friday. Peat, aged 32, spent 11 years in the NFL after being selected as the No. 13 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Stanford by the New Orleans Saints.
11 years in the league, I gave it everything I had. I am walking away from football, but not from the lessons it taught me. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and especially my brothers in the trenches. I’m grateful beyond words that I was able to live out this dream.
These words were shared by Peat on his Instagram post. He also mentioned his readiness to move to the next chapter with his family and expressed gratitude to God.
Peat’s career began with the Saints, where he played the initial nine seasons, mostly as a starting left guard. During his time with the team, he earned Pro Bowl honors for three consecutive years, from 2018 to 2020. His contribution was crucial as the Saints clinched four straight NFC South titles from 2017 to 2020.
After leaving the Saints following the 2023 season, Peat joined the Las Vegas Raiders, adding veteran depth to their offensive line. During his time with the Raiders, he played 15 games, starting in one. Following his stint with the Raiders, Peat moved to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played six games, starting in three.
His retirement post received a heartfelt comment from his wife, Ashley, expressing pride and appreciation for his sacrifices and hard work over the years.
