Angel Reese expressed dissatisfaction with her initial performance in the Atlanta Dream’s game against the Indiana Fever on Sunday. Despite the Dream leading by four points at halftime, Reese struggled, missing all six of her field goal attempts and several shots within the paint.
However, Reese played a crucial role in the Dream’s impressive 17-4 run to wrap up the first half. During a halftime chat with ESPN’s Holly Rowe, Reese openly acknowledged her shaky start. “I was playing poorly in the beginning, but it’s a game of runs,” she stated. “You have to rely on your teammates, and tonight, Allisha Gray, Madina Okot, and Rhyne Howard are leading us.”
Gray shone as the Dream’s primary scorer against Caitlin Clark and the Fever, accumulating 21 points by the third quarter. Okot added to the effort with six points, six rebounds, a steal, and a block off the bench.
Reese concluded the first half with seven points, shooting 3-of-10, and collected nine rebounds. When Rowe inquired about the shift in her performance, Reese explained, “I took my time. Stayed calm. Trusted my work.”
This season, Reese has been integral to the Dream’s success, achieving a career-high average of 15.6 points and 12.0 rebounds per game over 32 games. As both teams vie for first place in the East, this match’s winner will temporarily occupy the top position.
