Apple Unveils Foldable iPhone Duo Starting at $1,999

Apple’s new foldable iPhone Duo has captured consumer attention despite its substantial $1,999 entry price. This innovative device boasts a dual-screen feature and ultra-thin design. On ‘Varney & Co.’, Taylor Riggs highlighted these aspects, while host Stuart Varney expressed interest in purchasing the high-end smartphone, which ranges up to $3,000 for the two-terabyte model.

One long-standing issue with smartphone photo sharing has been image quality degradation due to compression. With iOS 27, Apple addresses this by allowing Shared Albums to store newly added photos and videos in their original formats at full resolution. This feature aims to preserve image detail, which other devices like Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones already offer through built-in methods.

If you’re looking to share high-quality photos from an iPhone, the upgraded Shared Albums in iOS 27 offer a solution.

Enhancements to Shared Albums under iOS 27:

  • Photos and videos are stored in their original formats.
  • New additions count towards the album owner’s iCloud storage.
  • Items in albums before the upgrade are not affected.

To turn on Shared Albums on iOS 27:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Tap iCloud.
  4. Under ‘Saved to iCloud’, tap Photos.
  5. Ensure iCloud Photos is enabled.
  6. Scroll down and turn on Shared Albums.

Creating a new full-resolution Shared Album in iOS 27 is straightforward. Any new album created automatically uses the upgraded experience. This makes it easier to maintain image quality when sharing photos with family and friends.

For those with existing Shared Albums, upgrading to the new experience will allow future photos and videos to be stored at full resolution. This upgrade does not affect items already stored in the older format.

To save a full-resolution photo from a Shared Album:

  1. Open Photos.
  2. Tap Collections.
  3. Scroll to Shared Albums.
  4. Select the photo or video.
  5. Tap the Share button.
  6. Choose Save Image or Save Video.

Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel users can use Quick Share to send full-quality photos and videos. Quick Share allows file transfers directly between devices without compromising image quality. This option proves effective for maintaining image integrity when sharing among devices.

For users wishing to preserve photo quality, Quick Share offers an excellent solution.

Quick Share usage:

  • Samsung Galaxy: Send files via Quick Share directly to nearby devices.
  • Google Pixel: Use Quick Share for file transfers with a QR code.

Despite these resolution improvements, full-resolution files consume more storage. It’s crucial to monitor storage space, especially with high-resolution content.

When sending normal snapshots, compression might be acceptable. However, for images to print or keep intact for years, full quality is essential.

Kurt “CyberGuy” Knutsson emphasizes the benefits of iOS 27 for photo sharing. Quick Share remains a valuable option for Samsung and Pixel users seeking to preserve file integrity.
