Arch Manning’s Postgame Interview Highlights After Recent Apology

Texas quarterback Arch Manning recently participated in a postgame interview with ESPN reporter Holly Rowe. This occurred shortly after Manning apologized for previously commenting on an AI-generated video that depicted Rowe being slapped, which he had described as ‘hilarious.’

During the interview, Rowe spoke with Manning on the field following Texas’ tight 20-17 victory over Tennessee at Neyland Stadium. Rowe opened by asking Manning about a key offensive drive late in the game, emphasizing its significance.

“I know this was a hard-fought win,” Rowe said. “This was dramatic down the stretch, but that long drive, you guys punch it in, you go over, and you’re hyping up your offensive line. How huge was that moment for you guys in this game?”

Manning’s response was reflective of his team-focused mindset.

“It was fun,” he replied. “I thought they battled the whole time. Shout out to our defense. Colin Simmons, that’s a real player right there.”

Rowe then turned the conversation to Manning’s personal connection to Neyland Stadium, where his uncle Peyton Manning had achieved legendary status in college football.

“He was terrific today. Your whole team was,” Rowe stated. “But I know a lot of people think this is a special day for your family. You made your own history out on this field today. What was that like for you, Arch?”

Manning continued to focus on the team effort.

“It’s not about me,” Manning said. “I didn’t play very well, but our team played great. Defense played well. SEC road win, that’s what it’s all about.”

Manning’s stats for the game included completing 14 of 19 passes for 201 yards while suffering an interception. He endured six sacks as the team managed 262 total yards, with 11 penalties costing 115 yards. Meanwhile, Texas’ defense shone with 10 sacks, five of which came from standout player Colin Simmons.

Rowe concluded the interview by asking Manning about an encouraging moment he shared with Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon post-game.

“I just said keep going,” Manning shared. “He’s a great player. I wish him all the best.”

The interview received mixed reactions online. Some praised its cordial tone despite recent events, while others noted a change in Manning’s demeanor following the controversy and his subsequent apology. After Texas’ comeback win over Ohio State in September, a digitally altered video emerged showing Texas coach Steve Sarkisian supposedly slapping Rowe. Manning had referenced this clip during a press conference, which led to his apology.

Manning acknowledged his mistake, stating there was “nothing funny” about the incident, and apologized directly to Rowe. Rowe publicly accepted his apology, mentioning a private conversation they had.

The interview reflected a mutual respect between Rowe and Manning, with warm exchanges as they concluded their conversation.
