Authorities in Arizona are investigating the discovery of two sets of remains found in the backyard of a missing couple’s residence. The couple’s adult son, considered a suspect, has reportedly left the country, as confirmed by local police.
The Avondale Police Department responded to a call for a welfare check at a house located in Litchfield Park on Tuesday. The check was initiated for a family consisting of a husband, a wife, and their 27-year-old son, Matthew Flores.
When officers arrived, they found the home deserted. Evidence collected during their visit indicated the possibility of foul play, according to Officer Daniel Benavidez. He shared this information during a press briefing on Thursday.
While the whereabouts of Matthew Flores remain unknown, authorities have labeled him as a suspect in the ongoing investigation. Officer Benavidez confirmed that Flores has left the country, yet no additional information about his current location was provided. He stated, “I can’t give you specifics on where to look in the world. All I can say is he fled the country.”
The police have yet to identify the remains discovered in the backyard. In response to queries about potential foul play evidence, Officer Benavidez disclosed finding a substantial amount of blood at the scene. He noted there was also evidence suggesting attempts to hide this blood.
This incident is part of a developing story, and further updates are expected.
