Authorities arrested Jeanine John Taele on Sunday after FBI agents observed suspicious behavior at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. This occurred shortly before President Donald Trump was to attend a Republican National Committee fundraising event there.
Investigators claim that Taele, a 38-year-old from Downey, California, was capturing images and videos of security measures around the area. Law enforcement charged him with weapons-related offenses after finding illegal firearms and ammunition in his vehicle.
There’s a lot of what ifs at this point,stated Captain Calvin Mah, leader of the LASD Major Crimes Bureau.
Authorities discovered a notebook believed to belong to Taele. They are examining it and checking any social media accounts they can locate for additional insights. Speculation arose online regarding Taele’s gender identity, but Mah clarified that Taele is male.
Taele was also linked to an ongoing investigation into a robbery probed by the El Segundo, California police. After booking, a California database flagged Taele for a watch notification originally issued by El Segundo, prompting the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department to alert them of his custody status.
The investigation widened following a search warrant executed at Taele’s residence. Officers reportedly found numerous firearms, ammunition, body armor, and notebooks with what officials described as worrisome statements.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, Bill Essayli, mentioned on X that the investigation remains active. “My office, along with the FBI and ATF, is assessing the evidence and will release further details when feasible,” he stated.
This incident emerges during a period of increased security surrounding Trump due to previous threats and attempts against him. Despite evidence, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported no credible threat to the community. The story will continue to develop as more information becomes available.
