Attorney Charged with Felony in D.C. Court Case

An attorney with a longstanding role on a panel dedicated to representing indigent parents in Washington D.C. now faces a felony charge. The case involves a developmentally disabled woman dealing with addiction, who had previously lost custody of her son due to allegations of neglect.

The suspect’s presence at the complainant’s apartment was allegedly caught on video, taken by a witness, and included in an affidavit for an arrest warrant. The D.C. Superior Court document, however, has blurred the suspect’s face in the images.

The woman, unable to afford legal representation, was assigned the attorney by the court. This legal provision aims to aid individuals lacking financial resources in obtaining judicial support, especially in personal and sensitive cases like custody battles.
