Case Study: Heat Impact on Individuals
On an intensely hot day, Martha Irene Van Egmond, aged 83, was tending to her garden in Bolton, Mississippi. While she was working, the temperatures soared beyond 90 degrees. Van Egmond unfortunately tripped and was unable to stand up again. The county coroner reported that she spent several hours on the ground, ultimately losing her life to the overwhelming heat.
