Chicago Bears Aim for Greater Success in Upcoming NFL Season

The Chicago Bears had a successful NFL season under new head coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams. They captured the NFC North title and progressed to the NFC Divisional Round. Williams, in his second year and first with Johnson, emerged as an influential playmaker, throwing nearly 4,000 yards.

Ben Johnson has ambitious goals for the Bears. “Our goal is to win the Super Bowl,” Johnson stated. He aims to surpass the 2013 Denver Broncos’ record for the highest-scoring offense, which averaged 37.9 points per game under quarterback Peyton Manning. Last season, the Bears averaged 25.9 points per game.

The team faces challenges. Receiver Luther Burden suffered an injury but is expected to return before the regular season. Defensive struggles were noted, with no shutouts recorded. Their closest shutout was a 31-3 win over the Cleveland Browns in December 2025. Additional injuries have occurred; safety Coby Bryant faces a six-month recovery, and cornerback Kyler Gordon is managing a calf issue.

The Bears now focus on sustaining last year’s achievements. The team faces the toughest NFL schedule, according to ESPN. Their preseason begins against the Browns on August 15, with Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders vying for the Browns’ quarterback position.

The regular season presents a challenge starting against the Carolina Panthers on August 13, followed by a home game against the Minnesota Vikings on August 20. Additional matchups include games against the Philadelphia Eagles, the New England Patriots, and the Seattle Seahawks, alongside tough NFC North contests.

Fox Sports reports the Bears’ over/under win total is 9.5 games, with odds favoring the under. This projection suggests a potential decline from their successful 2025 season, contrasting with Johnson’s Super Bowl aspirations.
