Christina Applegate Shares Her Misdiagnosis Experience

Christina Applegate, known for her role in “Married… with Children,” recently revealed she was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). Previously, in 2021, she announced her battle with this challenging neurological condition. On her “MeSsY” podcast with actor Jamie-Lynn Sigler, she discussed her unexpected news. Applegate now lacks clarity on what’s causing her health issues.

During the podcast, Applegate expressed her confusion about her condition. “I’m back at square one. I don’t know what’s going on with me,” she conveyed. Their podcast, which began in March 2024, often touches on their similar encounters with MS. Originally, medical tests indicated Applegate suffered from a disease that deteriorates the nerve’s protective layers, much like Sigler. A recent consultation with her doctor contradicted the previous diagnosis, stating she doesn’t have MS, leading to mixed emotions for Applegate.

Applegate voiced her uncertainties, saying, “You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of a sudden I’m better, right?” Her symptoms persist, and she feels worse in some respects. A photo accompanied this revelation, showing Applegate onstage at the Light Up The Blues 7 Concert in April 2025.

Despite not having MS, Applegate continues experiencing symptoms. She worries about those who related to her as an MS advocate. “I feel like I’ve let down those who supported me,” she mentioned. Without a diagnosis, she finds the situation confusing and unsettling.

Earlier, Applegate shared a video in positive spirits after a prolonged four-month hospital stay. In March, she openly spoke about her contemplation of mortality. During an NPR interview, she said, “I bought my plots already, OK?” This highlights the depth of her emotional journey.
