Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick will be awarded the Muhammad Ali Center’s Humanitarian of the Year Award. This recognition comes as a result of Kaepernick’s advocacy against racial injustice and his philanthropic work through initiatives like the Know Your Rights Camp.
Lonnie Ali, Muhammad Ali’s late wife and a co-founder of the center, expressed that Kaepernick’s efforts for equality and social reform have been profound despite personal and professional losses.
“Colin has used his platform to advocate for equality, human dignity, and social change, even when doing so came at significant personal and professional cost,” noted Lonnie Ali.

The Muhammad Ali Center, known for honoring impactful figures, has faced criticism over its choices. In 2022, it awarded Dr. Anthony Fauci the Lifetime Achievement Award, further stirring public debate regarding the center’s honorees.
