Controversial Remarks by Hasan Piker Cause Democratic Rift

Hasan Piker, a well-known Twitch streamer, has sparked a divide among Democrats with his controversial comments about American Jews and their support for Israel. Representative Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey has openly condemned Piker’s remarks, citing concerns over antisemitic rhetoric potentially inciting violence.

Piker’s comments have attracted significant backlash from several Democratic lawmakers. He has responded by blaming the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) for the criticisms aimed at him. In a post on X, Piker declared, “AIPAC boss call was made. They are unanimous in their hatred of me, and I welcome their hatred. If you’re a defender of Israel’s genocide, of its occupation, of its child-killing spree — then your boos mean nothing to me.” He directed this response towards Democrats who had made statements condemning him.

Several Democrats, including Senators Cory Booker, Elissa Slotkin, and Jacky Rosen, along with lawmakers like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Representatives Josh Gottheimer, Ritchie Torres, and others, have criticized Piker. Senator Rosen labeled Piker’s remarks as a “new low,” accusing him of perpetuating antisemitic tropes.

Gottheimer and others expressed concern over Piker’s rhetoric, emphasizing that blaming Jewish Americans for violence against them is unacceptable. Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin added, “Criticizing the policies and actions of the Israeli government is one thing. Blaming American Jews for the hatred, threats, and violence directed at them is something else entirely.”

Piker’s role in Democratic politics has been contentious. Some party members have appeared with him, while others have distanced themselves. Abdul El-Sayed, a Democratic Senate nominee from Michigan, initially associated with Piker during his campaign but later distanced himself following Piker’s controversial remarks.

El-Sayed stated, “I believe all Americans deserve the right to advocate for what they believe without fear of violence. Antisemitism is a scourge, and we need to address it in all its forms.” He emphasized the importance of safety for Jewish communities and his commitment against rhetoric that endangers them.

Piker has remained steadfast amidst the criticism, labeling it as an AIPAC-driven campaign against him. Fox News Digital reached out to AIPAC for a comment on Piker’s accusations but did not immediately receive a response.
