The Dallas Cowboys secured a significant victory in the NFC East by defeating the Washington Commanders with a score of 37-20 on Sunday. During the game, Cowboys cornerback Cobie Durant had an unexpected encounter.
While defending Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin in the end zone during the second quarter, Durant attempted to intercept a pass thrown by Jayden Daniels. The pass flew out of reach, and Durant hit the ground hard, landing flat on his chest.

During the same moment, Cowboys safety Markquese Bell was moving backward and inadvertently stepped on Durant’s buttocks and groin, adding to Durant’s discomfort. Durant required a few moments to recover and was assisted off the field by trainers. Unfortunately, he did not return to the game.

Cobie Durant joined the Cowboys in the offseason with a one-year contract worth $4 million. He previously played four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, amassing 141 tackles and seven interceptions across 61 games. Durant had made a tackle and a pass breakup in the Cowboys’ previous game against the New York Giants.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys excelled defensively, limiting the Commanders to just 10 points in the second half. Jayden Daniels of Washington suffered a dislocated elbow, and Dallas forced a fumble from Dyami Brown, marking the game’s sole turnover. The Cowboys now hold a record of 1-1, while the Commanders remain winless at 0-2.
The game not only contributed to Dallas’s standings but also highlighted Cobie Durant’s defensive capabilities and the unfortunate injury that sidelined him.
