Dave Obelkevich has established himself as a dedicated marathon and ultramarathon runner. Having completed 115 marathons and more than 200 ultramarathons, he shows no intention of slowing down.
At 83 years old, Obelkevich remains an active presence in Riverside Park, New York City. His journey in marathons began by chance when he first encountered the New York City Marathon in 1973.
That year, while jogging in Central Park, he stumbled upon the event. Runners with numbered bibs caught his attention, and his involvement in marathon running took root from that serendipitous moment.
