Detroit Lions Linebacker Jack Campbell Hospitalized After Neck Injury

Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was hospitalized overnight following a severe neck injury during the team’s Week 8 game against the Minnesota Vikings. Campbell collapsed on the Ford Field turf after a collision with Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson and did not appear to move afterward. He was immobilized on a backboard and carted off during the fourth quarter of the Lions’ 19-15 victory. Players showed visible distress as they watched Campbell receive medical assistance.

Head coach Dan Campbell shared his concern for Jack Campbell post-game. In the locker room, he led a prayer for the injured linebacker, acknowledging that details on his condition were scant. The coach requested his team to keep Jack and his family in their thoughts.

The Lions issued a statement regarding Campbell’s condition, informing he was resting and would stay in a local hospital for ongoing evaluation and monitoring. Updates on his status were promised as information became available.

Jack Campbell, an All-Pro and Pro Bowler last season, registered 176 tackles and five sacks in 2025. Since being drafted in the first round from Iowa in 2023, Campbell had participated in every game for Detroit. As of this season, he amassed 57 tackles and recovered one fumble over seven games. In May, Campbell signed a four-year contract extension with the Lions.

Campbell’s teammate, Aidan Hutchinson, was observed nearby as medical teams attended to Campbell during the second half of the game.
