ATLANTA — The Los Angeles Dodgers achieved a 3-1 win over the Atlanta Braves in Game 3 of the National League Division Series (NLDS), with a pivotal performance from Yoshinobu Yamamoto and key home runs by Kiké Hernández and Freddie Freeman. This victory gives the Dodgers a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s Standout Performance
Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered an exceptional outing at Truist Field by allowing only four hits and one earned run. He struck out 10 batters across seven innings, significantly contributing to the team’s success. Relief pitchers Tanner Scott and Edwin Díaz managed to secure two scoreless innings to maintain the lead.
Key Home Runs
In the fourth inning, Kiké Hernández hit a two-run homer propelling the Dodgers ahead. Shortly after, Freddie Freeman followed with a solo home run. The duo’s hits accounted for all the Dodgers’ runs in the game. Chris Sale, on the mound for the Braves, struggled, giving up seven hits and three earned runs over 80 pitches.
Ninth-Inning Tension
As the game advanced to the ninth inning, Braves reliever Raisel Iglesias faced the Dodgers. Kiké Hernández and Max Muncy were retired, but an Ozzie Albies double off Edwin Díaz raised tension. Ultimately, Michael Harris II grounded out, and Diaz closed the game with precision.
Game Highlights
Throughout the game, the Dodgers attempted to expand their lead, placing several baserunners early on. However, they struggled to capitalize on these opportunities. Chris Sale’s pitching kept the Dodgers from further scoring, aside from the home runs.
In contrast, the Braves managed only one run during the fifth inning, driven in by a grounder after loading the bases. Yamamoto’s command and ability to strikeout key batters diminished the Braves’ scoring chances.
Outlook for the Series
Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday, where the Dodgers aim to clinch the series and advance. The team must maintain consistent performance without relying solely on home runs to secure further victories.
