Dolly Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been damaged with multiple scratches, just days after the country music icon was laid to rest. A fan visiting the star noticed the vandalism and reported it on social media, posting a photo that showed the scratched surface.
Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, confirmed the incident to Fox News Digital. She noted that a fan reported the vandalism based on a photo they shared online. The picture indeed suggests that the star was vandalized with scratches.
“A fan went to the star yesterday and reported on social that the star was vandalized with many scratches. From the photo she posted, it does appear the star was vandalized with scratches,” said Ana Martinez.
Martinez also mentioned that the flowers at Parton’s star had been removed for a scheduled repair arranged last week. The repair process was initiated by the Hollywood Historic Trust, responsible for maintaining and repairing Walk of Fame stars.
Martinez added that the repairs are expected to be finished soon, with the star being polished by Friday. Fans will then be able to visit the landmark again to pay tribute to Parton.
Parton passed away at the age of 80, leaving behind an illustrious career. Her death on August 25 in Nashville, Tennessee, came after a short battle with cancer. She spent her final moments with loved ones at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, as shared by her team.
