Duolingo is bringing joy to language learners with an update that allows users to retrieve lost streaks. Starting Monday, June 1, users who had maintained a streak of 30 days or more can restore it by completing three lessons in one session, as per a news release. Duolingo streaks are built when users engage with the app on consecutive days. Previously, missing a day meant starting over from day one.
According to the unofficial Duolingo Streak Hall of Fame on Duome.eu, the longest active streak is an impressive 4,890 days, held by a user in Bethlehem. As Duolingo launched in 2011, this streak spans nearly its entire existence.
The option to revive streaks has been a top request from users across over 80 countries. Introducing it during the platform’s 15th anniversary celebrations seemed fitting, stated Chief Product Officer Cem Kansu.
