A well-known Egyptian TV host, Sarah Khalifa, has been sentenced to death by hanging in a significant drug case in Egypt. This case involved an accusation against numerous individuals for establishing a criminal organization dedicated to drug production and trafficking. According to Ahram Online, Khalifa is one of 12 defendants condemned to execution. She and others were allegedly involved in importing materials necessary for narcotics manufacturing.
Khalifa, recognized as a media personality and beauty clinic owner, has hosted several Egyptian television shows, notably a crime program called “Mission Impossible.” She currently commands over 2.5 million followers on Instagram. Reports indicate that Khalifa was apprehended in Cairo in April 2025 during the investigation’s course.
The case implicated 28 individuals charged with forming a criminal group and weapon possession. Of these, 12 received death sentences, nine were given life sentences, and seven were acquitted, as stated by Ahram Online.
The group allegedly functioned as a production and distribution network, each member having specific roles such as importing raw materials or manufacturing and distributing synthetic drugs. Charges also involved storing materials and drug production in a residential area.
Prosecutors reported confiscating over 750 kilograms, or approximately 1,653 pounds, of synthetic narcotics and raw materials during the probe. The case against Khalifa and co-defendants was built on testimonies from 20 witnesses and fortified by technical and digital evidence such as messages, photographs, and videos showing the purported illegal activities.
Ahram Online noted that authorities placed freezing orders on defendants’ assets and bank accounts and required those detained to remain in custody.
