Ella Langley’s song Choosin’ Texas has set a new record by spending 23 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You. On Tuesday night, Langley expressed her excitement on Instagram, struggling to find words to describe her feelings.
I don’t know what to say at this point. Thank you for loving this song, for listening to it,
Langley said with her dog barking in the background. She expressed gratitude for how the success of Choosin’ Texas has transformed her life and the lives of the song’s writers.
In an earlier interview with Billboard, Langley admitted that the song’s success exceeded her expectations. Originally written during a songwriting retreat with Miranda Lambert, Choosin’ Texas quickly climbed the charts and achieved historic success. Lambert, Luke Dick, and Joybeth Taylor co-wrote the song with Langley during their retreat.
Lambert shared a memorable story about being pulled over with a pet kangaroo and a dog in her car. This story inspired the song’s creation.
Langley noted Lambert’s significant influence on her career as both a collaborator and mentor. There’s not a rulebook to this job,
Langley explained, underscoring the importance of having someone to turn to for advice.
The song debuted on the Hot 100 in November 2025, reaching the top in February. It marked Langley’s first top 10 hit and went on to dominate the charts. Since then, Choosin’ Texas has also topped Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for 41 weeks.
Langley celebrated the milestone by performing in cities including Oxford, Mississippi; Athens, Georgia; and Jacksonville, Florida. She shared scenes from her tour, including performing on stage and backstage moments with fans commenting on her remarkable achievement.
Ella Langley’s achievement with Choosin’ Texas is not only a personal success story but also a testament to the song’s widespread appeal across diverse audiences.
