The fiancée of the late Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke shared a poignant message following his untimely passing at the age of 29. The NBA and the Grizzlies confirmed Clarke’s death last week. Authorities discovered him unresponsive at his home near Los Angeles, as reported by The Associated Press, with drug-related items found at the scene. First responders declared him dead upon arrival.
Amber Lorraine, Clarke’s fiancée, took to Instagram to express her sorrow. Sharing moments captured in photos of their time together, she wrote, “There are no words to describe this feeling. I never thought I’d have to live life without you.” She fondly remembered Clarke as “the most special person, with the biggest heart.” Lorraine revealed their wedding plans and described his proposal as the “happiest day” of her life, lamenting how different the world feels in his absence.
The Memphis Grizzlies expressed their grief in a statement, acknowledging Clarke’s contributions both as a player and a community figure over his seven seasons with the team. “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke,” their statement read. “Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten.” They offered their condolences to Clarke’s loved ones.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also issued a statement mourning Clarke’s passing, praising him as a beloved teammate known for his passion and determination. “Our thoughts and sympathies are with Brandon’s family, friends, and the Grizzlies organization,” Silver said.
Earlier in the year, Clarke faced legal issues. In April, he was arrested in Arkansas for various offenses including speeding and possession of a controlled substance. He was charged with improper passing, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing, exceeding the speed limit, and trafficking a controlled substance.
