Fathers of the Camp Mystic flood victims, Ryan Dewitt, Wade Lytal, and Cole Naylor, recently talked with host Kayleigh McEnany about their daughters’ profound faith and legacy. These fathers have found solace in their daughters’ unwavering belief, which they discuss in their podcast ‘Heaven Meets Earth.’ They expressed how their families rely on faith and scripture to cope with their loss.
One year after the tragic flooding at Camp Mystic that claimed 28 lives, these fathers revealed how their daughters’ faith continues to support them. Speaking on ‘Saturday in America,’ they shared how the girls’ faith helped them endure the tragedy.
Ryan DeWitt discovered journals left by his daughter Molly, filled with Bible verses and prayers. “We knew she was deeply rooted in her faith,” DeWitt remarked, noting Molly’s quiet yet profound spirituality. This faith provided comfort during the challenging days following her passing.
Wade Lytal recounted finding a journal entry from his daughter Kellyanne expressing love and gratitude to Jesus. Lytal emphasized the importance of raising children to cherish their faith.
Cole Naylor, whose daughter Wynne also perished in the flood, highlighted the strength they gain from daily prayer. He stressed his belief in their eventual reunion, holding onto the idea that their daughters are living on in heaven.
As Camp Mystic faced backlash from grieving families and legislative bodies, its management decided against reopening for the 2026 season. This decision aimed to honor families’ concerns amid ongoing grief.
