A man in Florida was taken into custody on Monday after investigators found what they suspect are human remains on a property in Marion County. This discovery occurred during the investigation into the disappearance of the man’s father. The information was sourced from authorities and an arrest affidavit accessed by Fox News Digital.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reported that they started looking into the disappearance of 43-year-old Andres Bahamon-Prada on May 16. This was following a report from a family member who noted that he had last been seen on May 7. Authorities confirmed that Bahamon-Prada resided with his 25-year-old son, Andres Bahamon, in Dunnellon.
During their investigation, detectives uncovered signs suggesting foul play in the disappearance of Bahamon-Prada, leading them to treat the situation as a potential homicide.

Authorities revealed on Monday that Andres Bahamon was detained in relation to his father’s disappearance. Official documents viewed by Fox News Digital showed Bahamon initially informed deputies that he last saw his father on May 7. According to his statement, Bahamon-Prada returned home that evening and claimed someone was coming to pick him up.
Detectives also noted the disappearance of Bahamon-Prada’s silver 2007 Infiniti M35 from the property days after he was last seen, and the car is currently still missing. The victim’s mother later informed investigators that she believed Bahamon killed his father. She had seen him near a local store, where he allegedly expressed that he thought his father was dead and in “hell where he deserves to be” due to being “an evil person” and a “junkie.”
When deputies visited the Dunnellon property on May 18, they discovered broken glass doors with a bullet hole, a shell casing on the porch, suspected bloodstains, and freshly disturbed soil in the backyard. These details were outlined in the affidavit.

The authorities are actively searching for Andres Bahamon-Prada’s missing 2007 Infiniti M35, as it might have crucial evidence linked to the homicide investigation.
Further investigation revealed that Bahamon allegedly sent his mother, who resides in Germany, a photo showing a male figure appearing deceased on the property. This image, noted in the affidavit, presented a man resembling Bahamon-Prada lying still beside wooden steps, with a noticeable red stain near his head and shirt.
After obtaining a search warrant, detectives found a large rolled carpet beneath the disturbed ground. The affidavit stated, “Upon investigating and digging into that area of dirt, detectives encountered the odor of decomposition.”

Deputies reported uncovering suspected human remains in the carpet, though they are still working on positively identifying them.
As the inquiry developed, Andres Bahamon emerged as a person of interest in this case. He was arrested and accused of tampering with evidence concerning the missing-person investigation. Investigators wrote in the affidavit their belief that Bahamon hid or moved the victim’s body to hinder the homicide inquiry.
Authorities are still searching for Bahamon-Prada’s missing silver 2007 Infiniti M35, as detectives believe it holds significant clues related to the investigation. Those with information regarding the vehicle or the case should reach out to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 352-732-9111.
