On Wednesday afternoon, executives from leading technology companies will meet with the leaders of the world’s wealthiest nations. This gathering aims to address the opportunities and risks associated with artificial intelligence (AI) as part of the Group of 7 (G7) discussions.

Key Attendees

Dario Amodei, Anthropic: A co-founder of the American AI company Anthropic, Amodei is a focal point at the meeting. Anthropic’s advanced AI models raise significant security concerns. The U.S. government has debated the military applications of these models and recently restricted access for foreign nationals. Christopher Olah, another Anthropic founder, had previously participated in a Vatican discussion on AI dangers.

Sam Altman, OpenAI: As the CEO of OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, Altman emphasizes the societal transformation AI may bring. He advocates for governmental actions to manage potential disruptions, such as allocating AI profits to citizens. OpenAI’s recent policy document advocates for a legislative response similar to the Industrial Revolution’s impact.

Arthur Mensch, Mistral: Co-founder of French company Mistral, Mensch represents Europe’s bid to compete in AI, a sector dominated by American enterprises. European plans to minimize dependence on U.S. technology put companies like Mistral at the forefront of this strategy.

European representatives include Uljan Sharka of Domyn, Robin Rombach from Black Forest Labs, and Victor Riparbelli representing Synthesia. Other significant figures attending are Aidan Gomez from Canada’s Cohere, Ren Ito from Japan’s Sakana, and Vivek Raghavan from India’s Sarvam.
