George Clooney has addressed the sorrowful passing of Presley Gerber, the son of his close friends Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. In a recent conversation with Entertainment Tonight, the 65-year-old actor shared insights into the Gerber family’s profound grief.
Clooney expressed, “I don’t think we’re even in the position of being able to talk about it.” He added, “It’s one of the most devastating things that’s happened to our family. And their family is just, as you can imagine, it’s the worst thing that could ever happen to a family.”
Presley Gerber died on September 20 at a rehabilitation center in Santa Monica, as confirmed by Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records. He was 27 years old and had checked into Resolutions Living on September 19.
Clooney, a long-time friend of the Gerbers and co-founder of Casamigos Tequila with Rande, was fondly known as “Uncle George” to their children. In the wake of Presley’s death, Clooney and his wife Amal were seen visiting Kaia Gerber’s home in Los Angeles.
According to The Daily Mail, Clooney was “close” with Presley, maintaining regular contact. A source mentioned, “George would spend hours talking to Presley,” highlighting the supportive role Clooney played in Presley’s life.
George is the nicest guy in the world and would do anything to help Rande’s family.
Clooney often advised Presley, particularly after his 2018 DUI incident, emphasizing caution and offering support through messages like “I am here for you.”
A few months before his death, Presley shared on Instagram about his plan to undergo a “flood dose” of ibogaine, a psychedelic treatment, at a wellness center in Cancún, Mexico. He described feeling “absolutely terrified” but acknowledged a larger guiding force.
In his post, Presley noted, “I knew why I was there. I faced what I had been running from, and somewhere in all of it, I started finding my way back to myself.” He expressed hope that he wouldn’t need further treatment.
