Google’s annual Made by Google event held on August 12 introduced several exciting products, including new Pixel 11 phones, the Pixel Watch 5, and Pixel Buds with enhanced features. A key focus was on devices anticipating user needs without direct input.
Pixel 11 Lineup and Upgrades
The Pixel 11 series, comprising the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, features the new Tensor G6 processor. This enhances performance with Google’s Gemini Intelligence. Cameras in the Pixel 11 are notably improved. The 48-megapixel main camera captures 56% more light compared to Pixel 10. Additionally, the Pro and Pro XL models offer up to 120x Pro Zoom. Notably, all Pixel 11 models now start with 256GB storage and support faster wireless charging with Qi2 technology.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold has been redesigned for more durability. It is lighter and thinner than the previous model with enhanced screen durability. The lineup is available for preorder, with a release date of August 20.
Gemini AI’s Enhanced Role
Google has made Gemini more proactive on the Pixel 11, extending its capabilities across over 40 apps. When you receive a message about travel plans, Gemini can display your flight details and suggest actions based on conversations. New voice input features, called Rambler, enhance transcription by removing filler words.
Powered by the Tensor G6, AI tasks on-device are completed faster and more efficiently than before. Sign To Text is another feature that recognizes American Sign Language, allowing users to communicate via the keyboard.

It analyzes numerous frames to deliver optimal 12-megapixel photos, automatically cropping or unblurring images as needed. The new Instant Night Sight capability captures better low-light photos swiftly, while Camera Looks allows for customizable visual styles prior to taking a shot.
Introducing HiLight
The Pixel 11 series brings back an upgraded version of notification lights with HiLight. These LED lights inform users about calls and messages without requiring screen interaction. Different colors and patterns indicate specific contacts or Gemini’s current activities, reducing the need for constant screen checks.
Focus on Security and AI Control
Google emphasizes privacy by giving users control over AI functionalities and data usage on the Pixel 11. Security features include automatic spam call blocking, scam alerts, and seven years of security updates. An upgraded security chip also helps secure personal data.
Pixel Watch 5: Advancements in Health Monitoring
The Pixel Watch 5 promises better GPS accuracy and performance improvements. Google’s Health Guardian features track long-term wellness trends, although the Breathing Emergency Detection is not available in the U.S. market yet. The watch starts at $399 and is available for preorder.

Google’s Pixel Tag enters the finder-tag market, leveraging over a billion devices in the Find Hub network. Ultra-Wideband technology aids in precise tracking of items such as keys and wallets. The tag is rated IP67 for water and dust resistance, with the ability to share tracking among multiple users.
Updates to Pixel Buds Pro 2
Software enhancements for Pixel Buds Pro 2 include improved active noise cancellation and a new Olive color. Integration with Pixel Watch will enable automatic audio pausing when the user falls asleep.
