Riders had to leave a Green Line train heading toward Forest Park on Saturday afternoon, as its wheels became misaligned. This information was confirmed by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The train was moving toward the Harlem/Lake station when it passed through a track switch that hadn’t completed its alignment. This situation resulted in the front and rear train wheels being placed on different track sections.
According to the CTA, this incident was not classified as a derailment. All train wheels remained securely on the tracks. To assist passengers affected by this situation, buses transported them along the impacted areas. Meanwhile, work crews focused on restoring normal operations for the Green Line.
The Oak Park Fire Department arrived on the scene to ensure the safe evacuation of passengers from the affected train. The CTA’s statement, however, did not include specific details regarding potential train delays or station closures. Additionally, the Village of Oak Park has not provided any comment as of now.
