Hannah Harper’s husband made a significant career change to support her country music career. The winner of ‘American Idol’ Season 24 shared with Fox News Digital that her husband left his career in law enforcement after nearly a decade. He joined her on the road as her tour manager.
“It has definitely strengthened our marriage in ways that I didn’t even know those muscles worked,” Harper said. Her husband, who was in law enforcement for eight years, initially worked in insurance but chose to become her tour manager due to the busy music schedule.
The couple made this decision following Harper’s ‘American Idol’ success. She is now on her first national tour and has secured a brand partnership with Sargento. After her song ‘String Cheese’ went viral, the company sponsored her tour with a custom-wrapped bus stocked with snacks for her team and family.
Harper noted some challenges working with her husband but emphasized the fun in building their career together.
“The biggest challenge now is figuring out the off hours since our work is at home,”
she said.
Before her success on ‘American Idol,’ Harper and her husband, Devon Mendenhall, were already building a family. Married in 2018, they have three sons. Harper values having her family involved in the tour.
“Everyone has a role, and everyone feels included,” she stated emotionally.
Reflecting on her husband’s support, she feels honored by his willingness to leave his career for her dreams. Harper acknowledged the inspiration from fellow ‘American Idol’ winner Carrie Underwood, who advised her on maintaining authenticity while managing fame.
Harper, balancing stage presence and her role as a mom, emphasizes staying true to herself throughout her rising career. ‘String Cheese,’ a song inspired by motherhood and postpartum depression, has resonated with many parents.
“I am emotionally connected to people going through it,” Harper mentioned regarding her interactions with fans.
This song has become a connection point for those sharing similar experiences. Harper believes it extends beyond music, offering comfort and outreach to many.
Hannah Harper’s national tour will continue through November, featuring appearances alongside Brad Paisley and Lauren Alaina.
