An emergency response was initiated for a flight to Hawaii after several crew members reported feeling unwell during the journey. Reports indicate that seven Hawaiian Airlines flight attendants experienced nausea and headaches when an unfamiliar smell was noticed in the cabin.
The incident occurred on September 24 on Alaska Airlines Flight 803, which was operated as Hawaiian Airlines between Los Angeles and Honolulu. The Airbus A330 had 252 passengers and nine crew members onboard, and it landed safely at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.
Once the aircraft arrived, medical personnel evaluated the seven affected flight attendants who were then released without needing further medical attention. Alaska Airlines confirmed that no passengers required medical care.
A statement from the airline expressed gratitude towards medical professionals, emphasizing that safety is their priority. A coordination of multiple city and state agencies ensured first responders were available upon the flight’s arrival, as reported by Hawaii News Now.
Paramedics and EMTs assessed the crew outside Terminal 1. All crew members declined the offer to go to an emergency room. The source of the odor remains unidentified, and the aircraft underwent inspection before being returned to service.
Previously, Fox News Digital covered another incident where an airline flight was diverted due to an unusual odor. American Airlines Flight 719, traveling from Rome to Philadelphia, made an unexpected stop in Dublin after an odor was detected on board. This was attributed to an onboard oven. Paramedics evaluated some crew members and one passenger in Dublin.
The American Airlines flight carried 281 passengers and 12 crew members. Those affected received hotel accommodations and proceeded to Philadelphia on other flights the next day.
