Heidi Klum embraced a bloody transformation for her annual Halloween party in New York, appearing as a giant severed hand. Celebrating 25 years of her much-anticipated event, Klum was nearly unrecognizable. Only her eyes and mouth were visible, with blood dripping from her open mouth. The top of the hand ended with eerie dangling ligaments and tendons, aided by helpers in blood-stained hazmat suits.
The idea to become a giant hand, specifically her left hand, struck her last year. Her costume included long red nails, a thumb ring, and her engagement and wedding bands. Klum remarked, “I looked at my hand and thought, ‘Hey, I think I could fit my body in this somehow.'”
Her past costumes have been equally elaborate. In 2022, she arrived at her party encased in a worm costume, going viral as her entrance involved being on a fishing line. Previous outfits include Medusa, a peacock, an enormous Transformer, a werewolf from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” a clone with lookalikes, and Kali, the multiarmed Hindu goddess.
The creation of this year’s hand costume was a lengthy process, taking about five to six hours to wear, with more time invested in making it. Klum shared glimpses on her Instagram, showing the application of bloodied prosthetics to her face. She admitted, “Hands down, the hardest thing is carrying it. It’s quite heavy.”
Her husband, musician Tom Kaulitz, was absent due to touring. However, she incorporated personal details into her costume, like a tattoo of his name on her ring finger alongside the lines and veins on her palm. On the absence of her husband, she remarked, “A little bit of Tom is with me.”
