Historic documents signed by Abraham Lincoln were taken from the Lincoln Memorial due to high temperatures. The incident occurred on July 16. A spokesperson for the donor assured on Monday morning that the documents remain undamaged.
The removal happened after the temperature in their display cases was deemed unsafe. This decision was made to preserve these important historical artifacts.
A copy of the Emancipation Proclamation, personally signed by Lincoln, was among the documents. This was on display at the Lincoln Memorial undercroft prior to the removal.
