Indiana Substitute Teacher Sentenced for Sending Inappropriate Images to Student

A substitute teacher from Indiana, Cassidy Carter, received a two-year jail sentence for sending nude images to a 14-year-old student. This verdict followed her guilty plea to battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, reported by WXIX-TV. She received two days of credit for time served.

Details of the Charges

Initially, Carter faced one count of child solicitation. However, a change occurred after the victim relocated and chose not to participate further in the case, according to Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens.

Incident Overview

Carter, only 21 at the time, was working at South Dearborn Community School Corporation when the incident happened. The student reported the situation to a school resource officer, who then informed the principal. This occurred in December 2023.

The student mentioned establishing a friendship with Carter through Snapchat. During their online interactions, Carter sent the teen nude photos after taking showers, usually late at night, according to authorities. She reportedly expressed feelings of love towards the student.

Investigation Findings

Investigators discovered the images and several messages on Carter’s phone. Prosecutors confirmed these findings during the case.
