Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville criticized House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries over his meeting with U.S. special envoy Jared Kushner. This meeting sparked controversy among Democrats as Jeffries engaged in discussions on housing, immigration, and high living costs with Kushner, as reported by The New York Times.
Carville expressed astonishment at the meeting, emphasizing the unity among Democrats in avoiding contacts with President Donald Trump’s inner circle. He elaborated on the diverse opinions within the Democratic Party regarding policies like Medicare for all and effective policing. Despite these variations, he asserted that there is a consensus among Democrats not to engage with Trump’s associates.
“These people are a pack of felons and traitors, and you do not meet with them. You do not meet with them,” Carville stated emphatically.
Carville suggested bringing Kushner before a committee to uncover any questionable dealings. He accused Trump and his administration of incompetent management and secretive agreements.
The fallout from Jeffries’ meeting with Kushner prompted Axia CEO Jason Mudd to comment on the situation. Mudd noted that Jeffries’ primary issue lies in the exposure of the meeting after it occurred. He criticized the handling of the meeting’s announcement and suggested that Jeffries should have been transparent from the start.
Mudd advised Jeffries to publicly articulate the details and motivations behind the meeting as a way to rebuild trust within the Democratic Party. He emphasized the importance of transparency, advising Jeffries to take control of the narrative.
