Sonny Rollins, an iconic tenor saxophonist, died on May 25 at the age of 95 at his home in Woodstock, New York. Known as the ‘saxophone colossus,’ Rollins was celebrated as one of America’s most esteemed jazz musicians. His career spanned six decades, marked by a unique blend of tradition and innovation that kept him at the forefront of jazz creativity.
Rollins’ passing was confirmed by his publicist, Terri Hinte. He had retired from performing more than a decade ago after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis.
