Johnny Depp might return to the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise. Known as one of Hollywood’s most lucrative series, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ started with the 2003 film ‘The Curse of the Black Pearl’. This movie catapulted Depp, as well as Kiera Knightley and Orlando Bloom, to A-list status.
From 2006 to 2017, four more films were released, with Depp consistently portraying Captain Jack Sparrow. However, the franchise stalled post-2017 after Depp’s legal battles with his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
Although Depp initially expressed reluctance to return, his recent comments suggest he’s reconsidering. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Depp mentioned his willingness to reprise his role if the conditions align. He emphasized his trust in producer Jerry Bruckheimer, mentioning that he was open to collaborating with him again.
“If things are exactly where they need to be with regard to how they are going to top off the ‘Pirates.’ The only involvement I really want to have, truly, is just to send them off on a better note,” Depp explained.
The ‘Pirates’ films, particularly the original, are beloved for their engaging and spirited nature. They were devoid of the modern themes often criticized by some audiences today. However, Depp’s potential return remains uncertain.
Currently, Depp is involved in other projects. He starred in ‘Jeanne du Barry’ in 2023. Upcoming films include ‘Ebenezer’, releasing on November 13, 2026, and ‘Day Drinker’ in 2027. These are major films with notable casts.
While Depp’s future with ‘Pirates’ remains ambiguous, his career continues to flourish with significant roles on the horizon.
