Johnny Depp is making headlines with his latest role as Ebenezer Scrooge in the newly released “Ebenezer” trailer. Fans expressed enthusiastic support for the actor’s transformation, though the marketing of the film has sparked debate among viewers.
Despite repeating the classic narrative, the trailer’s tagline suggesting audiences “think again” left some puzzled. “From the trailer I can confirm, it’s still the same story,” remarked one user on X. “It’s the same as Scrooge, and Muppets Christmas Carol. So don’t worry about having to think again, you really don’t.” Another questioned, “Why is the tagline ‘Think you know his story? Think again.’ when every single thing in the trailers is faithful to Dickens? That is his story and we all know it. This might be a good version, but why is it being marketed as revisionist? What story do you think we think we know?”

Despite some skepticism over the film’s marketing, many are eager to see Depp’s take on this enduring Christmas tale. A fan commented, “So many have done this story and I still will watch it.”
“Ebenezer” marks Depp’s return to major Hollywood studio films. His last big-screen appearance was in the 2023 French historical drama “Jeanne du Barry.” He later directed “Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness” and is set to star opposite Penélope Cruz in the upcoming thriller “Day Drinker.”
