Jordyn Tyson’s entry into the NFL hasn’t been smooth. The New Orleans Saints receiver, selected in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, might be out for up to two months due to a hamstring injury sustained during training camp, reported by NFL Network.
The 22-year-old from Arizona State, chosen eighth overall by the Saints in April, suffered his injury during a practice session with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Saints head coach Kellen Moore, in his second year, mentioned that Tyson might miss the start of the season.
If Tyson’s recovery follows the current timeline, he could miss at least five games. Speculations on social media increased when it was reported that Tyson sought multiple opinions regarding his injury.

Should the two-month estimate remain accurate, Tyson could make a return around Week 6, coinciding with a game at MetLife Stadium against the New York Giants. The Saints will then travel to Paris for an International Games matchup.
Tyson had previous hamstring issues during his tenure with the Sun Devils. However, Moore dismissed comparisons. “This injury doesn’t relate to Jordyn’s past,” Moore explained according to ESPN. “It happened when his foot slipped, and he was pushed, a situation that could result in a similar diagnosis for any player.”
Moore noted that Tyson was adapting well to his team before the injury. “He’s been playing excellent football,” Moore stated. “Preseason injuries are unfortunate. We’ve encountered a few similar situations, but we’ll work through them. He’ll recover and be ready.”
Moore aims to maintain the strong performance the Saints exhibited late last season, particularly with Tyler Shough, a second-round choice from the previous year, as the starting quarterback. Shough had the offseason to prepare, and the Saints have strengthened their offense.
Tyson, who gained attention from scouts with a 1,101-yard season in 2024, faced hamstring troubles in 2025, playing only nine games. Despite this, he made 61 catches for 711 yards and eight touchdowns.
Besides Tyson, the Saints secured top receiver Chris Olave with a new contract and added Travis Etienne Jr. on a four-year deal worth $48 million. Alvin Kamara remains a key figure in the backfield, giving the Saints depth.
Tyson’s main focus is now on healing, with the Saints eager for their first-round pick to return to play as the season approaches.
