Justin Baldoni and his wife, Emily, spoke publicly for the first time in two years following the legal drama involving Blake Lively. In an Instagram video, they described their experience as filled with ‘injustice’ and ‘trauma.’
‘We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say,’ Justin stated.
The controversy arose from the production of the 2024 film ‘It Ends With Us,’ where tensions reportedly began during the movie’s press tour. In December 2024, Blake Lively filed a complaint, later turning into a federal lawsuit, alleging sexual harassment on set by Baldoni and efforts to damage her reputation after she raised concerns.
Baldoni denied these allegations, responding with his own lawsuits against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and others, accusing them of defamation and extortion. After a year of public legal battles, which included exchanges of text messages, subpoenas, and amended court filings, a confidential settlement was reached in May 2026 without admissions of wrongdoing from either party. However, Lively is seeking approximately $8 million in attorney’s fees and litigation costs, which Baldoni contests.
In their video, Justin and Emily expressed immense gratitude despite their challenges, with Emily stating that gratitude doesn’t ‘negate the injustice and the pain’ they endured over the last few years.
‘We’ve had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like how could something like this even happen?’ Emily continued.
They acknowledged experiencing ‘a lot of trauma’ and emphasized their desire to let the justice system handle the situation without contributing to the surrounding noise. They confirmed that ‘the truth and the facts have spoken for themselves.’
Discussing their personal lives, Justin shared that they are ‘healing,’ acknowledging that healing isn’t linear and looks different every day. He highlighted the importance of family, friends, community, and faith in their journey.
‘We are healing,’ Justin stated. ‘It’s our family, it’s our friends, it’s our community who have been there for us.’
Through this ordeal, Justin and Emily have grown closer in their faith. Emily added that ‘the truth and the facts have spoken for themselves.’
Justin concluded the video with the lesson they have learned during this period: ‘When everything is stripped away, the reset shows where love exists.’ He mentioned that they are focusing on healing and spending time with their children.
The legal battle between Baldoni and Lively drew extensive attention not only due to the celebrities involved but also because of workplace conduct and reputation management discussions it sparked. Although largely resolved, its implications continue to be of interest.
