Justin Baldoni Discusses Legal Dispute and Personal Gratitude

Justin Baldoni recently addressed the ongoing legal issues concerning the film “It Ends With Us.” He shared insights through a video on Instagram with his wife, Emily Baldoni, focusing on the significance of gratitude in their lives.

Baldoni’s video comes a year and a half after facing allegations from Blake Lively, who accused him of sexual harassment during the film’s production. Lively claimed that Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, retaliated against her for raising concerns about misconduct on set. Baldoni has consistently denied these allegations.

Gratitude has saved us, Baldoni states in the video, avoiding direct mention of Lively, the film, or specific legal battles in the nearly five-minute recording. Instead, he emphasized the personal impact of the situation. There have been painful things spoken into existence over the last couple years, he shared, explaining their decision to rely on the justice system rather than engage in public debates.

Emily Baldoni emphasized their belief that truth and facts have come forward. She acknowledged their gratitude does not erase the hardship and pain experienced over the past few years. She explained how their family grappled with the controversy, questioning how such an incident could occur under the guise of supporting women’s rights.

Lively initially brought her allegations to public attention in December 2024, months after the movie’s theater release. Her first complaint went to the California Civil Rights Department before filing a federal lawsuit. The matter became highly publicized, revealing private communications among high-profile Hollywood figures.

Legal developments included U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissing most of Lively’s claims this year, including harassment and defamation. However, breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding in retaliation claims persisted. A settlement was reached in May before the anticipated trial.

Baldoni countered with his own lawsuit in January 2025 against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, alleging defamation and extortion. The judge dismissed Baldoni’s claims, though Lively’s request for financial damages continues, arguing reimbursement owed under California law.

Baldoni has maintained a low profile since the disputes arose, issuing statements through legal channels and stepping back from Hollywood. Currently, he resides in Nashville, Tennessee, focusing on family life.

In closing the video message, the Baldonis expressed deep appreciation for their support network, attributing their resilience to friends and family. Thank you does not feel like enough, Justin Baldoni remarked, noting lessons in love and resilience when faced with challenges. Emily Baldoni mentioned plans for continued healing and family time.
