In a recent interview, Former Vice President Kamala Harris criticized Republicans, accusing them of “cheating” by engaging in actions like gerrymandering. She expressed her commitment to ensuring Democratic victories in the midterm elections, emphasizing the importance of voting.
“Midterms, midterms, midterms, full-time occupying my thoughts, my mind and my work,” Harris stated. “We have to win these midterms. These folks are cheating. They’re redrawing lines to make voting harder because they fear the power of the people.”
Harris elaborated on her efforts to “stop the madness” by working towards Democratic control of Congress. She shared these thoughts during a conversation with Megan Rapinoe on her podcast, “What Are You Like?”
Rapinoe, a former women’s soccer star, inquired about Harris’s continued involvement in politics. Harris explained her commitment to public service.
“I don’t know how to live and not serve,” she said. “It’s something I’ve come to terms with. I cannot imagine a life without working to make positive changes.”
When asked about her potential candidacy in the 2028 elections, Harris responded, “I haven’t decided. ’28 doesn’t matter if we don’t win ’26.”
Harris has shown support for Democrats who prefer her not to join their campaigns. She emphasized the need to win to counter the current administration’s actions.
“Listen, Peter, we need to win, OK? Bottom line, we need to win,” she told MS NOW’s Peter Alexander.
Harris outlined key issues like lower costs, affordable healthcare, and childcare as priorities.
In response, RNC election integrity Communications Director Ally Triolo criticized Harris and the Democratic stance on voter ID laws.
Rapinoe also commented on her experiences as a female athlete.
“In the prime of my career, I witnessed incredible progress in women’s sports, followed by setbacks,” she noted.
Rapinoe highlighted the ongoing challenges for women in sports and society.
