Kelani Jordan has achieved a significant milestone by winning the NXT Women’s Championship at the WWE Heatwave event. After a challenging journey, she defeated Kendal Grey in what was considered one of the top women’s matches of the year.
Jordan has previously expressed regret over missed opportunities. However, this time, she capitalized on her chance. During the match, she executed a move that propelled Grey into the ring, allowing Jordan to perform a precise split-legged moonsault and secure the victory.
Grey made various attempts to overpower Jordan, employing tactics like the avalanche reverse Spanish Fly. Despite being on the defensive at times, Jordan’s resilience led her to ultimately clinch the title.
Throughout her career, Jordan has held different singles titles, though this marks her first NXT Women’s Championship. She was the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion and briefly held the TNA Knockouts Championship.
Jordan’s tenure as the NXT Women’s North American Champion ended during a gauntlet match at Halloween Havoc 2024, where Fallon Henley claimed victory. Her reign as TNA Knockouts Champion concluded at NXT Gold Rush last November, losing in a triple-threat match to Lei Ying Lee.
Her gymnastics proficiency played a crucial role in overcoming Grey’s wrestling expertise, paving the way for Jordan’s success. This victory has set the stage for her initial title reign as NXT women’s champion.
