Kennedy Center Removes Trump’s Name, But Remains Shrouded

In the early hours of June 13, workers at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts removed President Trump’s name from its facade. This decision, executed under court order, attracted global attention.

The center’s operations chief, Matt Floca, submitted a sworn declaration to a federal court confirming the removal. A New York Times photographer captured the removal of specific letters, such as ‘A’ and ‘D’. Despite this, the building remains obscured by tarps, stirring speculation whether some letters still remain.

Luna Woo, a visiting violinist, along with other musicians, attempted to see behind the tarps but found it impossible as they lay closely against the building.

A Kennedy Center spokeswoman, Roma Daravi, stated the scaffolding and tarp persist as crews work on marble and soffit panel maintenance.

For some of the president’s supporters, this scenario is minor, as expressed by an anonymous theatergoer. Conversely, his opponents view the tarps as a symbol of Trump’s sensitivity.
