Kerri Rawson, the daughter of infamous “BTK” serial killer Dennis Rader, has been subjected to a domestic violence injunction. Her ex-husband alleged she warned repeatedly that he and their children were in danger of being murdered, as court records show.
Rawson has established herself as a bestselling author and advocate for victims of violent crime since her father’s 2005 arrest. She openly shares her experiences growing up as the daughter of one of America’s most notorious serial killers.
Allegations in Court Records
A judge in Florida granted the injunction after Darian Rawson, her ex-husband, filed a petition detailing incidents that left him fearing for the safety of himself and their two teenage children. The court’s order temporarily grants him full custody of the children, restricting Kerri Rawson’s contact with them to electronic means. Additionally, she cannot approach their home or school, and she is barred from having contact with the family’s pets.
“Kerri Rawson’s disturbing behaviors led to the court’s intervention for protection,” Darian Rawson claimed in his petition.
An incident on January 5, 2025, at an Altamonte Springs police station is central to the allegations. Here, Kerri allegedly claimed psychic abilities enabled her to foresee imminent danger to their children, asserting that they faced being murdered that morning.
Police Intervention and Mental Health Concerns
Kerri further warned police of potential harm to the family, allegedly reporting to 911 later about shots fired, multiple active shooters, and fatalities at an apartment complex. However, responding officers found the family safe, according to the police report cited in The New York Post.
Authorities located Kerri Rawson at Orlando International Airport, subsequently facilitating her voluntary admission to a hospital. The report stated she later entered custody under Florida’s Baker Act, which permits temporary detention for mental health evaluations under certain conditions.
An incident report portrayed her as someone known for making inaccurate or fabricated claims due to mental health issues.
Despite the injunction, additional allegations arose as Darian Rawson accused Kerri of violating the no-contact order by attempting to contact him multiple times.
BTK Killer Legacy
Dennis Rader, Kerri’s father, killed 10 people in Wichita, Kansas, from 1974 to 1991, while leading a seemingly normal suburban life. His “BTK” nickname stood for “bind, torture, kill.” In 2005, he pleaded guilty, receiving 10 consecutive life sentences without parole prospects.
Kerri Rawson shared her experiences in her memoir A Serial Killer’s Daughter, published in 2019. She frequently appears in documentaries and television programs, discussing her father’s crimes and supporting violent crime victims.
