Kyle Teel Suffers Another Injury During White Sox Game

ARLINGTON, Texas — Chicago White Sox catcher Kyle Teel faced another setback during Monday’s game against the Texas Rangers. During the second inning, he prepared to receive a throw from right fielder Braden Montgomery. Teel caught the ball, turned, and tried to tag Ezequiel Duran, who was sliding into home plate. Duran scored safely, and Teel’s troubles worsened as he exited due to a left ankle injury.

The White Sox announced that Teel is undergoing further evaluation. This is another injury in a challenging season for Teel. Previously, he suffered a right hamstring strain on March 10 while playing for Italy in the World Baseball Classic. A further setback occurred on May 16 when he sprained the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee while playing for Triple-A Charlotte, as his front spike became caught during a swing.

Teel returned to play his first game of the regular season on June 22. So far, he has participated in 19 games, achieving a .190 batting average, a .271 on-base percentage, and a .317 slugging percentage, with two home runs and 14 RBIs.

Following Teel’s injury, Drew Romo took the position as catcher for the remainder of the game.

Chicago White Sox shortstop Colson Montgomery reflected positively after the All-Star break, describing it as a ‘good refresher’. Three key takeaways from the game after the break include the team’s continued impressive play to maintain their first place in AL Central.

Davis Martin experienced bad luck as the White Sox faced a 1-0 defeat, which ended their four-game winning streak. However, the team responded strongly after the break with a decisive 12-4 victory, reclaiming sole possession of first place.
