LA School Superintendent Resigns Amid FBI Investigation

Alberto Carvalho, the superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District, resigned on Sunday. His departure follows an FBI investigation that involved searches of his home and the district’s headquarters. Officials confirmed his resignation after he had been placed on paid leave just two days after the search on February 25.

Carvalho had been overseeing the school district, which is the second-largest in the United States, serving 520,000 students. He assumed leadership of the district in 2022, previously making a significant impact as he navigated numerous educational challenges.

The resignation marks a significant development for the school system, which has been under Carvalho’s guidance during a period of important initiatives and reforms. This move raises questions about the district’s future leadership and direction amidst ongoing scrutiny.
