Legal Action Against Troubled Apartment Complex in Southeast Washington

The city has taken legal action against the property owners of 1828 Q Street SE after concerns were raised by a local advisory neighborhood commissioner. The lawsuit accuses the owners of failing to address chronic illegal activities at the apartment complex.

Situated in the Fairlawn neighborhood of Southeast Washington, the building has become notorious for disturbing incidents. Reports include attempts to ignite fires on gasoline-soaked floors, drug transactions in the corridors, and unauthorized entries into unoccupied units.

Tom Donohue, the advisory neighborhood commissioner for Fairlawn, has visited 1828 Q Street SE multiple times to address these issues. His involvement has highlighted the severity of the situation, leading to the city’s decision to file a lawsuit against the building’s owners, demanding accountability and immediate corrective measures.
