Linda Blair has responded to an investigation following a search of her Southern California property by authorities. This investigation concerned a reported kennel operation alleged to house over 100 dogs.
The star of ‘The Exorcist,’ aged 67, confirmed that both she and the animals under her care are ‘good’ after an unexpected visit from officials from Los Angeles County. These officials arrived as part of a coordinated effort between the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) and the Department of Regional Planning.
Blair expressed in an Instagram video on July 31 that the visit took place in 105° heat. She stated that, despite the surprise, both she and the animals are doing well. Her social media message highlighted the prevalent busyness in animal rescue efforts, especially in saving lives from harsh conditions and shelter abandonment.
According to Blair, the visit revealed a need for some paperwork and diagrams, noting her ongoing plans to relocate her rescue operation to enhance educational efforts and provide better assistance to animals.
“I’d rather move forward,” Blair stated, emphasizing her intent to simplify processes and support animal rescue initiatives.
Authorities sought the inspection after allegations surfaced about a kennel holding over 100 dogs without valid permits. The officials mentioned attempts at contacting the property owner, which reportedly went unanswered.
The DACC issued a statement to People magazine explaining that the warrant granted them the authority to ensure compliance with county regulations. The inspection aimed to assess the care, safety, and overall welfare of the dogs present at the site.
Blair, who gained fame in 1973’s ‘The Exorcist,’ explained that the situation entailed administrative misunderstandings over documentation.
The investigation remains active, and the DACC has chosen not to disclose further specifics. TMZ reported Blair’s cooperation during the inspection, with no animals being removed from her property.
Through a video on her Instagram, Blair reiterated the nature of the visit, clarifying it was related to administrative issues rather than the well-being of the animals.
“I am fine. The animals are fine,” Blair said, urging for better communication, such as mail, for notifications.
Blair continues to encourage support for her nonprofit, the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, established in 2003. This foundation focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating mistreated animals.
While Blair and the DACC have not commented further to Fox News Digital, the effort continues to ensure kennels meet lawful and humane standards.
