A psychologist provided key testimony in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, asserting she heard a “male voice” instructing her to kill her children. Lindsay faces charges for the deaths of her three young children in 2023 at their Duxbury home.
During the trial, Dr. Paul Zeizel, a clinical and forensic psychologist, testified that after the incident, Lindsay told her husband she heard a voice that gave her no choice but to commit the killings and then take her own life. The prosecution had concluded its presentation, and the defense began its arguments, centering on claims of postpartum psychosis.
Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, questioned whether Lindsay was being truthful about her symptoms. Zeizel affirmed there was no sign of deceit or malingering, describing her as honest. After the tragic event, Zeizel was allowed by court order to visit Lindsay in the hospital.
Susan Clancy, Lindsay’s mother-in-law, testified that she noticed Lindsay’s mental health struggles during the 2022 holidays but described her as a devoted mother. She expressed deep concern for Lindsay’s wellbeing and noted her pleas for help.
Lindsay Clancy’s legal team continues to focus on proving her severe postpartum psychosis in an effort to sway the jury. The trial remains a topic of significant interest and debate.
