New York Giants fans have been pleasantly surprised by Malik Nabers’ performance in training camp. After an offseason filled with uncertainty about his readiness for the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, the wide receiver appears primed for action.
Head coach John Harbaugh offered promising news during a recent press conference. He indicated that it is “reasonable to assume” Nabers will be ready to play in Week 1. This is particularly noteworthy since Nabers was recovering from a torn ACL and meniscus damage suffered in Week 4 last season.
“Probably moving the best we’ve seen him look,” Harbaugh remarked, observing Nabers as he practiced without a red non-contact jersey. Nabers joined his fellow receivers wearing a standard white jersey during full-speed drills.
Despite the absence of full-contact practices, Nabers’ return to regular participation is a planned progression. Harbaugh wants to ensure Nabers transitions comfortably without sudden increases in intensity.
Nabers has expressed eagerness to return to the field, stating, “my soul has been dead for so long.” His motivation seems to be fueling his impressive performance in camp, demonstrating good movement and route running.
While it remains uncertain if Nabers will participate in the Giants’ final preseason game against the New York Jets, signs of progress are clear. His chemistry with quarterback Jaxson Dart is developing well, despite a limited previous experience owing to Nabers’ injury.
Fans look forward to Nabers’ partnership with Dart, who recorded 24 touchdowns last season, and anticipate his impact across the upcoming 17-game schedule. The Giants face the Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 13 at 8:20 p.m. ET, bringing high expectations for Nabers on “Sunday Night Football.”
